Who are you and where are you from?
I am Dalia Drake. A stylist first, creative director second and the one and only Cuban fashion icon living.
How would you describe your personal style?
A unique mix of Rihanna at the 2015 official Met Gala and 90’s Hip-Hop with a dash of the Cuban colorful subculture.
If you could work with any celebrity who would it be?
Right now I precisely have my eager eye on several woman rappers like Flow Milli and Ruby Rose. And I am discovering a deep interest in styling celebrity actors and actresses.
What designer do you think is the most slept on?
ALL BLACK AND LATINX DESIGNERS!!! (Say it loud for the folks in the in front.) I feel this type of designers are the ones producing all the amazing work with half of the recognition. Granted yes some have been provided with major deals and platform to promote there clothing world wide but we however we still have a long way to advance before the world wake up to BLACK AND LATINX DESIGNERS.
What do you feel the most comfortable in?
Sweat pants, graphic tee and some fire sneakers. Everyone always things I rather be in high fashion most of the time but as long as my sweat pants are comfortably Gucci I feel stunning.
What is your favorite brand?
Chanel Vintage (In my FUTURE voice) — I clearly lived in Atlanta for to long hahah
What is your most treasured piece in your closet?
I possess several key pieces that are treasures. But undoubtedly I would have to declare my Khaki Vintage Fendi Jacket as the most treasure. I gained it from this Situation-ship and it was the merely the only good thing out of it.
What is your secret to staying fashionable?
I like saying I don’t follow trends, but I am still extremely aware of them. My consistency comes from exploring as a get older styles I use to be self-conscious about, reminiscing on old looks and recreating a modern version. I get inspires by couture runway shows and including couture in my ready to wear style.
What is something you want people to know about you?
I am extremely aware of who I am and my power. I refuse to enable the world, or its people to dictate the way I experience my life. Fashion represents my passion but wealth and stability is my drive in life. I love deep, but I also let go extremely fast. You will consistently win with me and if you choose to go your own route... I merely hope to behold you at the top!
What made you fall in love with fashion?
I would have to confirm that it was Hip Hop and its Fashion culture. That passionate love progressively extended to couture once I got precisely to collage.
What makes for a strong street style photograph?
The overall aesthetics of how the clothes are paired with the background of the shoot is critically important. Focus on being casual and minimalistic with your poses. Do not forget your accessories, the bolder the better and have lots of fun!
